The Three Wise Men from the East have decided to advance their arrival in La Laguna to visit seven areas on the outskirts of the city for the first time. Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar will attend this Sunday, January 2, Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 to Las Chumberas, Valle Tabares, Santa Catalina, Padre Anchieta, Las Carboneras, San Roque and La Barranquera to greet the children and collect their letters, itineraries with which they also seek to avoid crowds by spreading their magic beyond the Casco.
The mayor, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, explained that this initiative “is one of the novelties that have been included in the programming for this Christmas to readjust the celebration to the current situation, in which the health crisis has led us to limit as much as possible the activities and acts for safety and to focus our efforts on the little ones, because we want them to live these dates with the same enthusiasm as before the pandemic ”.
To offer the maximum guarantees of security to the population, the Councilor for Fiestas, Badel Albelo, specified that the area has worked “intensely” together with Their Majesties to “increase and decentralize their visits, one of the most anticipated appointments of the year , above all, by the little ones ”. Although tradition indicates that Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar must arrive on January 5, the mayor explained that this year they will be in La Laguna from Sunday so that “they can greet as many girls and boys as possible, without the families having to move to the center and crowds are generated ”. The itineraries have already been agreed with the neighborhood and party associations and will be announced imminently.
Minors will be able to deliver their letters directly to Their Majesties on Sunday 2 in the Plaza del Rubio (Las Chumberas) and in the Plaza de Las Cuevas (Valle Tabares); on Monday the 3rd in Santa Catalina (El Ortigal) and in the San Juan square (Padre Anchieta), and on Tuesday the 4th in the Las Carboneras and San Roque squares and in El Atolón street (La Barranquera).
All these spaces will be “adequately enabled” so that families can attend the appointment from 11:00 to 13:00 with “the maximum guarantees of security.” As a preventive measure, Badel Albelo reported that all people, from 12 years and three months of age, must present the COVID certificate to access the meetings, which will be held in order of arrival.
