A motorist has sustained serious injuries following a collision with a car this Monday on Avenida de los Menceyes in the La Higuerita area of San Cristóbal de la Laguna, as reported by the 1-1-2 emergency services in the Canary Islands.
The incident occurred at 11:46 when the Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) 1-1-2 received an alert regarding the collision between a car and a motorcycle.
The 1-1-2 service promptly activated the necessary emergency resources.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene to secure the vehicles and assisted a woman, who was an occupant of the car, from the cabin.
Personnel from the Canarian Emergency Services attended to the two individuals involved. The motorist was found to have severe polytrauma and was subsequently transported in critical condition by a medicalised ambulance of the SUC to the University Hospital of the Canary Islands.
The other individual affected, a woman who was a passenger in the car, suffered moderate injuries without complications and was taken to the same hospital in a basic life support ambulance of the SUC.
The Local Police managed traffic on the road and completed the necessary documentation for the incident.
