SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE APR. (Press Europa) –

The Executive Commission of Base Trade Unionists (SB) has decided on Tuesday to convene the hospitality table in order to review the compliance of the strike that took place last week and to request the president of the Canary Islands Government, Fernando Clavijo, to bring the parties together to restart negotiations.

SB, the leading organisation in the tourism subsector within the Santa Cruz de Tenerife province, indicates that it aims to negotiate based on the document previously agreed upon during the presidency of the Government— which was later rejected by all unions except one— to facilitate the “necessary approach” that leads to an agreement and prevents “further damaging” the reputation of the destination.

This preliminary agreement suggested a 6% increase in the salary pool for workers, assurance that the purchasing power will be preserved in any signed agreement, the installation of lifting beds in hotels, and a pilot initiative to evaluate temporary disability.

Nevertheless, both Ashotel and Aero have cautioned that once the strike is confirmed, the negotiations will revert to ‘zero’.
