SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE APR. (Press Europa) –
The Canary Coalition (CC) has encouraged the Socialist Party (PSOE) this Saturday to embrace “effective governance” amid the dispute between employers and employees in the tourism industry within Santa Cruz de Tenerife, following remarks from its Organisation Secretary, Nira Fierro (PSOE), who labelled the current Canarian government’s mediation in this matter as an “absolute failure”.
This was articulated in a statement by the National Organisation Secretary, David Toledo, aimed at the Socialists, reminding them that “it is preferable to take action to foster agreement, as the Canarian government is doing, rather than remain inert while neglecting to improve the conditions of workers” in the tourism sector, which is overseen by the administration led by Ángel Víctor Torres (PSOE). “
In this light, Toledo has prompted the Canarian PSOE to engage in “reflection” and urged them to become “part of the solution rather than the problem”, regarding a matter that, “as the PSOE itself has acknowledged, holds vital significance” and where an accord has already been established in the province of Las Palmas.
To summarise, he has highlighted the “hypocritical” stance of the Canarian socialists, cautioning that “over four years they made no efforts to enhance the labour policies of the sector, only mobilising their support when they find themselves in opposition.”
“Where the PSOE perceives failure, what exists is an ongoing dialogue and a pursuit of agreements that the government led by the Canarian nationalists has never forsaken,” he added.
