SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, December 29 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife will open this Saturday two craft fairs in the municipalities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and La Laguna in which a total of 64 artisans related to a wide variety of trades will participate.

The Minister of Employment, Socioeconomic Development and Foreign Action, Carmen Luz Baso, highlights in a note the importance of these dates to enhance the activity of a sector that has been severely punished by the restrictions established by the pandemic, and explains that, for second consecutive year, the participation of artisans in both events will be free.

“The complicated situation experienced by the artisan sector since the pandemic began adds greater value, if possible, to this type of event, which for many artisans constitutes the opportunity to expose and sell their new products in person,” says the counselor, who emphasizes that both fairs will comply with the sanitary measures and the reduced capacity established by the health authorities to combat Covid-19.

The Reyes Crafts Fair, which celebrates its twenty-fourth edition, will be located in the Plaza del Príncipe de Santa Cruz and will have the participation of 40 artisans and in the case of La Laguna it will be located in the Plaza del Adelantado with 31 artisans.

The hours of the two fairs, which will remain open until the night of January 5, will be from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., with a small interval of one hour, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., in which the stalls will remain closed.

The list of professionals covers more than twenty crafts related to jewelry, recycling materials, decoration of fabrics, traditional pottery, doll making, weaving, printing and engraving, paper and cardboard, jewelry, inlaid, soap, leather goods, clothing, cutlery, oil mills, macramé, cutwork, stained glass, carpentry, high baskets and artificial flowers and the production of traditional costumes.

All of them have a valid artisan card and have been selected according to the criteria established in the call launched by the Cabildo last August, with which priority is given to artisans who have registered as self-employed, They have their own brand or have a website, among other requirements.

The celebration of these outdoor exhibitions, organized through the Insular de Artesanía de Tenerife company, will be accompanied by a series of measures to guarantee the safety of both the artisans and the attending public, including the mandatory use of the mask, entry control, provision of hydroalcoholic gel, the marking of a route to visit it that will facilitate the circulation of customers and the establishment of a reduced capacity.

Thus, if alert level 3 is maintained in Tenerife, a capacity of 50% will be established, although this must be reduced to 33% in the event of reaching level 4 and smoking, eating and drinking is prohibited inside of the enclosure.
