New record day with 4,914 infections and seven deaths

New black day due to covid in a record December in the Canary Islands. The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands notify this wednesday 4,914 new infections and seven deaths in the Islands, what leaves a cumulative 143,785 positives and 1,125 deaths throughout the pandemic. The number of hospitalized patients also grew to 422 admitted (+28), while ICU patients remained at 67. Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and La Palma register their highest number of daily cases of the entire pandemic. The total of active cases is 36,965 (+4,118), also the highest of the entire pandemic. The new registrations amount to 790 in the last hours.

Of the seven people who died in the last hours, four have been in Tenerife, two in Gran Canaria and one in Lanzarote, all between 51 and 91 years old. Five of the deceased had previous pathologies, while the death of Lanzarote, a 59-year-old woman, It occurred on Saturday and Public Health confirmed it last Wednesday at noon.

By islands, Tenerife, which remains at level 3, it is still where more infections are registered. 2,724 in the last hours, which is 11,773 in the last 7 days. Gran Canaria, also at level 3, adds 1,507 infections (6,463 in the last week). Lanzarote registers 352 cases, Fuerteventura 135, The Palm 148, La Gomera 32 and The iron fifteen.

Accumulated Incidence (AI) continues to rise and stands at 944.51 cases per 100,000 inhabitants at 7 days and in 1,502.65 cases at 14 days.
