SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE APR. (Press Europa) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife, in partnership with the municipalities of Buenavista del Norte and Santiago del Teide, is set to introduce a discretionary transport service for mandatory travellers this Friday, catering to all hikers and visitors keen to explore the Masca ravine.

The president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, states that “this initiative, which has been in development for over a year from the Rural Park of Teno, aims to regulate arrivals, alleviate congestion, and enhance security for both tourists and locals, while also freeing up parking spaces.”

She elaborates that “the goal is to establish sustainable mobility that is compatible with tourism in order to protect the delicate and ecologically valuable area of Masca.”

The use of this service for users of the Masca Barranco road is compulsory for access to the descent, which will need to be managed by the Visitors Centre.

Tickets for this service will be available exclusively through the official website Caminobarrancodemasca.com, with the transport cost included in the entrance fee to the Masca ravine.

Therefore, visitors arriving in Masca by any means other than the bus will not be permitted to traverse the ravine.

This regulated service will incur a fee for its provision, meaning that from tomorrow onwards, those wishing to enjoy the path of the Masca ravine must utilise the newly mandatory discretionary transport service.

The service will operate on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with departures occurring every 20 minutes from the collection point in Santiago del Teide, specifically at the existing Titsa stop adjacent to the City Hall.

The Southern City Council has established a parking area in the vicinity of the municipal cemetery, enabling visitors to leave their vehicles while they head to the bus stop, where there will be a bus accommodating 18 passengers.

The transport charge has been added to the entry price of the Masca ravine, and ticket sales will be conducted exclusively through the official website: Caminobarrancodemasca.com.

Without the stamped entry ticket from the bus, access to the ravine will be prohibited, according to the Cabildo.

Pricing varies according to the visitor’s place of residence. Adults and children residing in Tenerife will not incur any charges for the descent into the Masca ravine or for the mandatory transport.

Adult residents of the Canary Islands are required to pay 3 euros for the ticket along with 4 euros for the bus, while children will pay 1.5 euros and 2 euros, respectively.

For adults who do not reside in the Canary Islands, the entrance fee will be 28 euros, plus 10 euros for transport, whereas children will be charged 14 euros, along with 5 euros for the La Guagua ticket.
