SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE APR. (Press Europa) –
The Canary Workers’ Commissions (CCOO) has described this Thursday’s salary increase proposal from Ashotel and Aero as “miserable” in a bid to circumvent the tourist strike in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, since a “4% increase above the agreed figure for 2025, with no retroactive effects and half absorbed by existing salary agreements” is a proposal deemed “unacceptable for workers.”
The union, which was the first to propose the strike and the one to join the hospitality discussions, anticipates that the strike will be “historic.” They have stated in a note that, due to their “pressure,” improvements have been achieved, including the introduction of liftable beds in the housekeeping department, removing the concept of compensation and absorption regarding seniority.
CCOO also appreciates the “historic agreements” signed in the province of Las Palmas, which include a gross salary increase of 8% by 2025, followed by an additional 4% from January 2026, the implementation of elevatable beds, and the commitment to prioritise continuous shifts or compensate for breaks of less than 12 hours.
