The Department of Works, Infrastructure and Accessibility of the La Laguna City Council has temporarily opened a new free parking area in the coastal vicinity of Bajamar, aimed at providing an alternative parking option for the many individuals who flock to this location during Holy Week to enjoy their leisure time.

This area, situated on La Marea Street, close to the Lagunamar urbanisation, is undergoing refurbishment by the council, with the intention of accommodating over one hundred vehicles in the near future, while preserving the natural state of this locale through its renaturalisation.

The councillor responsible for this area, Ángel Chinea, clarified that “this temporary measure also seeks to alleviate the parking challenges faced by local residents during this season, as they often struggle to find parking near their homes due to the surge of visitors choosing this area for their holidays.”

The mayor explained that “the current work plan focuses on enhancing its facilities, including recreational spaces, perimeter fencing, and new lighting, while consistently prioritising significant plant restoration through the planting of numerous large, resilient trees that have been selected with the local climate in mind.”

The La Laguna City Council has chosen environmentally-friendly materials for these improvements, encompassing both the decorative elements and the urban furniture and paths that have already been established in the area, thus augmenting the benefits of this forthcoming parking facility.
