SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE APR. (Press Europa) –
The vice president and counsellor of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Lope Afonso, remarked on Wednesday that there has been an “approach” in recent hours between business leaders and trade unions, which makes it “feasible” that the planned tourist strike for this Thursday and Friday in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife may be averted.
During a press briefing to discuss the agreements of the Governing Council, he acknowledged that the strike is a matter of “concern” for the island corporation, and he believes that a final agreement would be “very beneficial” for the island.
Afonso did not shy away from stating that if the strike proceeds during a peak tourist period such as Holy Week, the reputation of the island “could be impacted,” as there will be numerous customers “without the necessary services.”
