The Cabildo de Tenerife reopened four trails in Teide National Park on Wednesday following the removal of ice and snow, as well as improvements to accessibility.

In particular, access has been granted to the following: Path 9: Teide-Pico Viejo-Carretera TF-38, from the junction with Path 38 (black caves) to its intersection with Path 12 (old peak viewpoint); Path 12: Mirador de Pico Viejo (in its entirety); Path 23: black regatones (in its entirety); and Path 28: Chafarí (in its entirety).

Conversely, access for the general public remains restricted on these paths or sections: Path 7: White Mountain-Pico Teide, from the summit of White Mountain to the junction point between Paths 7 and 11 (Mirador de Pico Viejo); Path 10: Bravo Telesforo (in its entirety); and Path 11: Mirador de la Fortaleza (in its entirety).

This restriction does not affect individuals registered with federations or authorised professionals and tourism companies, who must comply with certain conditions to gain access, as detailed by the council in a statement.

Those with a valid mountain federation card must possess the essential winter gear (technical clothing, crampons, and ice axe) and must register on the Tenerife On application to request the appropriate permit.

Moreover, access is permitted for companies and individuals engaged in their professional activities, identified in the Tourism Registry of the Canary Islands Government under hiking, mountaineering, or trekking categories on Tenerife, who can accompany and guide groups of up to 15 individuals per guide.

In this regard, the guides are required to hold the necessary accreditation to operate in Teide National Park, alongside the relevant qualifications for their profession.

All participants in the activities (guides and visitors) must be equipped with the mandatory basic winter gear (technical clothing, crampons, and ice axe) and are required to register on the Tenerife On application.

Online Booking System

To protect the natural environment and regulate visitor numbers, the Cabildo established an online reservation system in January 2025 via the Tenerife On (App or Website) for access to the Viejo-Mirador Teideos-Pico Paths and 32 Abeque, Path 23 the black regattons, and Path 28 Chafarí.

In addition, to access Path 10 Telesforo Bravo, which connects the Rambler with the Teide Summit, a permit must be obtained through the National Parks Reserve Central: www.reservasparquesnacional.es

The Cabildo de Tenerife has also reopened the trail known as Risco de las Pencas, the western slope of the Ruiz ravine (San Juan de la Rambla), Path 43 in its segment within the cliff of the cylinder head (Garachico), the PR-TF-58 pathway along the cliff in the Teno Rural Park, and the PR-TF 8-TF 8 that runs between Aphur-Playa and Tamadite-Taganana in the Anaga Rural Park.

These trails were previously impacted by the ‘Olivier’ storm and are now accessible to the public.
