On Tuesday, April 15, the Organising Committee for the Congress of the Popular Party in Tenerife announced that Lope Afonso’s candidacy is the sole one presented for the forthcoming conclave of the Populars in Tenerife, scheduled for May 24.
The chair of the Organising Committee, Luz Reverón, verified Afonso as the only candidate, fulfilling all the statutory criteria following the deadline for candidate submissions.
Luz Reverón elaborated that the next step in this congress will involve calling local assemblies to elect the compromisarios who will attend the Congress in May.
For his part, Lope Afonso stated, “I am leading a project that champions unity and cohesion in order to build a stronger party, positioning itself as the primary choice for Tenerife in the 2027 elections.”
Furthermore, Afonso remarked that “the Popular Party initiative aims to solidify a style of politics that is devoid of clatter and centred on providing certainties and trust to the citizens through effective management and a commitment to the public.”
