SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE APR. (Press Europa) –

Next week, the Tenerife Auditorium will play host to the annual event organised by the Network of Educational and Social Concert Organisers (RECE).

The specifics of this sixteenth edition, scheduled from April 23 to 25, were unveiled on Tuesday by the Minister of Culture for the Cabildo de Tenerife, José Carlos Acha, alongside the artistic director of the Auditorium of Tenerife, José Luis Rivero.

José Carlos Acha stated that “the Auditorium of Tenerife is not merely a venue for opera, dance, and music, but also a hub for cultural creation, a space for dialogue and reflection. Thus, this gathering entitled ‘We have a plan, and now what?’ is essential.”

According to the island’s councillor, “culture must increasingly focus on inclusivity, removing both visible and invisible barriers that hinder access, and that is why the Auditorium of Tenerife must engage in this dialogue.”

Acha indicated that “as a new initiative and for the first time in 15 years of such gatherings, we are collaborating with the Scientific Committee organised by the European Network for Education in Opera, Music and Dance (Staine).”

José Luis Rivero, on his part, recalled that this marks the second occasion the Auditorium of Tenerife has hosted such a gathering.

“The first was in 2020, but due to the pandemic we had to conduct it online, which unexpectedly aided our international outreach. That year we discussed well-being, and this time our focus is on cultural rights, structured around three key areas: sustainability, training, and accessibility,” Rivero shared.

The artistic director elaborated that the plan referenced in the title pertains to the Ministry of Culture’s initiatives scheduled for May.

“It has been devised with input from a diverse range of stakeholders, from artisans and enthusiasts to professionals and sector associations. Under the guidance of the Director General of Cultural Rights at the Ministry, Jasmine Beirak, we aim to foster a European dialogue, with confirmed participants from Finland, Italy, and France,” Rivero explained.

The committee comprises the artistic director and the coordinator of the Social Educational Area of the Auditorium of Tenerife, José Luis Rivero and Desirée González; the president of Roce, Silvia Carretero; the vice president of Roce, Mikel Cañada; the president of Scene, Vania Cauzillo, and board member of the European Network, Sarah Théry.

Strategic Cultural Rights Plan

These three days will facilitate reflection on the future of the Strategic Cultural Rights Plan approved by the Ministry of Culture, which will revolve around three pivotal areas: sustainability and social impact; training and new skills, and accessibility.

The inaugural session, set for Wednesday at 10 am, will be led by the Director General of Cultural Rights at the Ministry, Jasmine Beirak, under the title ‘Cultural Rights: a public policy to (re)imagine the future.’

The first day’s events will continue with the talk ‘Creative ecosystems and sustainability: towards alternative models for music,’ featuring José Luis Rivero; Alfons Martinell from the University of Girona; the executive director of Opera Latin America (OLA), Paulina Ricciardi; the vice president of the Finland Musical Education Association, Tunula Jukola-Nuorteva; and musicologist Dinko Fabris from the University of Basilicata.

This panel will be moderated by Daniel Broncano, the technical director of the Symphony of Tenerife.

The discussion titled ‘Women in Music’ will include Jasmín Beirak, Paulina Ricciardi, Silvia Carretero, Vania Cauzillo, and María Antonia Rodríguez, president of the Spanish Association of Symphony Orchestras (Aeos).

Wednesday’s schedule will conclude with a workshop titled ‘What power are you willing to relinquish?’

Family show

Thursday’s agenda will commence at 9.15 am with the presentation of the educational and social programmes of the Auditorium of Tenerife, led by José Luis Rivero and Desirée González.

Attendees will have the opportunity to experience performances of ‘The altarpiece of Master Pedro,’ a family opera included in the Opera de Tenerife, alongside ‘Lua,’ a theatrical performance for children.

Additionally, there will be a morning discussion involving Vania Cauzillo, member of the Stissive Music Commission, Juan Pablo Soler, Sarah Théry, and Vanessa Gasztowtt from Scene.

The afternoon session will address inclusive dynamics and emerging aesthetics.

This meeting will feature contributions from Carmen Laucia, president of Full Inclusion Spain; project director Mikel Cañada; singer and project participant María Europe Luis; as well as Scene members Alice Nardelli and Sarah Théry.

Following this, there will be an interactive activity with inclusive cards, culminating the day with a workshop by the Tenerife Symphony on music and inclusive dance, featuring Daniel Broncano, Ana Hernández Sanchiz, Antonio Quiles, and various orchestra members.

On Friday, the event will conclude with a presentation by the Italian musicologist Dinko Fabris.

At the conclusion, the boards of Rocle and Scene will seize the opportunity in Tenerife to establish collaborations between the two associations.

This gathering targets those responsible for the educational and social facets of cultural establishments, creators, music professionals, researchers, musicologists, educators, psychologists, pedagogues, cultural mediators, social group leaders, social workers, and all individuals interested in the themes proposed by this XVI Encounter Roce, which sees Iberia as an air collaborator.
