The Cabildo de Tenerife has revised the requirements for accessing the Paths leading to the Teide National Park Pico for federated mountain enthusiasts, licensed professionals, and tourism firms which must adhere to a set of stipulations. Individuals holding a valid federative mountain card are required to possess essential winter gear (technical attire, crampons, and an ice axe). Additionally, they must register on the Tenerife On application (click here) to obtain the relevant permissions.

Furthermore, entry is granted to both companies and individuals engaged in their professional activities who are registered in the Tourism Registry of the Canary Islands Government under the categories of hiking, mountaineering, and/or trekking activities on the island of Tenerife, to guide and accompany groups of up to a maximum of 15 individuals per guide. Consequently, the guides must hold accreditation to operate in Teide National Park and possess the necessary qualifications for this profession. All participants in the activity (guides and visitors alike) must be equipped with obligatory basic winter gear (technical attire, crampons, and an ice axe). They must also register on the Tenerife On application.

In a bid to safeguard the natural environment and manage visitor numbers, the Cabildo established a reserve system in January 2025 online via the Tenerife On (App or Website) platform for the following paths: PNT 07 White-Pico Mountain of the Teide (the segment between the summit of the white mountain and the intersection with PNT 11: fortress viewpoint), path PNT 09 Teide-Pico, PNT 32 Abeque, path PNT 23 The Black Regattons, and PNT 28 Chafarí.

Moreover, to access path No. 10 Telesforo Brav, please visit the National Parks Reserve Central (click here).

The Cabildo de Tenerife reminds that these paths are of considerable difficulty, thus unsuitable for individuals lacking experience in high-altitude environments or those with heart, respiratory, or mobility issues. Access is prohibited without wearing long trousers (post or backpack) and a fleece jacket; it is also compulsory to wear specialised mountain footwear, as well as to carry water or hydration packs, a mobile phone, and a flashlight or headlamp with batteries (particularly if the activity takes place late at night or early in the morning). Furthermore, during the winter season, carrying gloves and a hat is also mandatory.
