The structure, which has been closed since April 1, has experienced instability, exacerbated by the heavy rainfall in recent days.

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, APR. (Press Europa) –

The bridge on Teobaldo Power street, located in the municipality of Tacoronte (Tenerife), partially collapsed on the morning of this Sunday due to the instability of its structure and the significant rainfall of late. In addition to causing major damage to the roadway, it has also disrupted the drinking water supply and electricity service to several nearby streets.

The infrastructure had been closed since April 1, specifically due to the emergence of cracks on its northern face, as stated by the local authority in a press statement.

The City Council has stated that, prior to this section of the road collapsing—which connects the Santa Catalina area to the Plaza del Cristo—various municipal experts, alongside the city mayor and local police, visited the site to evaluate the adverse conditions and implement new measures to ensure safety in the vicinity.

Shortly afterwards, they noted the collapse of the northern side of the structure, which created a significant breach that has severely affected the roadway and impaired public utility services such as water and electricity to several streets in the area.

Specifically, until the restoration works are completed, the interruption of light and water from the main supply network will impact residents on Fernández Ocampo, César Galán, Casilda Museum, and Callejón Callejón Transversal Teobaldo Power in the coming hours.

Personnel from the Municipal Works and Services Department have carried out perimeter reinforcement at both entry points to the bridge to prevent hazardous situations for residents and visitors.

They confirmed that the City Council will initiate the necessary procedures on Monday to ensure the recovery of this site on the Granados ravine, collaborating with the Cabildo de Tenerife and following the guidance of the senior officials of the local authority.
