Santa Cruz de Tenerife 13 Apr. (Europa Press) –

The Ministry of the Presidency, Public Administrations, Justice, and Security of the Canary Islands Government has announced this Saturday that a security enhancement will be implemented in Lanzarote through the General Corps of the Canarian Police, featuring fourteen officers along with vehicles from the Citizen Security Unit and the Prevention and Intervention Unit (UPRI).

This specialised operation will be active from Tuesday, 15th April to Saturday, 19th April during Holy Week and will collaborate with other bodies and the Lanzarote council, as detailed by the Regional Department in a statement.

Consequently, this new initiative adds to those already arranged for La Palma and Fuerteventura.

Presence across the islands

Therefore, in La Palma, the Autonomic Police has been operational since last year in the Aridane Valley, while on Majorera Island, “in these past two months, the police have effectively diminished the sense of insecurity,” according to the Minister of the Presidency, Nieves Lady Barreto, earlier this week.

Furthermore, as per the Ministry, the officers will participate in specific Holy Week events, such as in the municipality of Güímar (Tenerife), in collaboration with the Cabildo, and will be present in Cruz del Carmen, Taganana, Masca, and the Portillo-Los Azulejos section.

There will also be an increase in personnel in Mogán (Gran Canaria), owing to an anticipated rise in visitor numbers.

Moreover, they indicated that the capital islands will be bolstered with citizen security patrols, particularly in areas expected to attract large gatherings, such as Teide.
