Santa Cruz de Tenerife 12 Apr. (Press Europa) –
The Government of the Canary Islands, via the General Emergency Department, will announce a pre-alert situation for rainfall in Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura commencing from 11:00 hours on Saturday.
Consequently, the affected region will encompass the northern and metropolitan area of Tenerife, as well as the eastern parts of Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, as confirmed by the Regional Department on Friday.
As a result, locally intense rainfall is anticipated, potentially reaching or surpassing 15mm in an hour within the northern and metropolitan zones of Tenerife, and also in the east of Gran Canaria. The north and metropolitan section of Gran Canaria, along with Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, will face a lower likelihood of being impacted.
This decision is predicated on the data provided by the State Meteorology Agency and other available resources, in accordance with the specific Emergency Plan for the Canary Islands concerning risks from adverse weather phenomena (PEFMA).
The regional government urges the public to take precautions and adhere to the self-protection advice issued by the General Emergency Department.
