The XVIII Almendro photography contest in Flor, organized by the City Council of Santiago del Teide, already has its winners, whose verdict was announced yesterday at the Puerto de Santiago Museum, where the finalist works were also exhibited.
In this edition three categories were established: Night photography, creative and conceptual photography, and macro photography.
In the night photography modality, the first prize was to bloom under a star silence, by Javier Gea Leiva. The second prize fell in the front row for the romantics, by Ilian Smirnov, and the third in the pink hour, by Cristina María Hernández Díaz.
In the category of creative and conceptual photography, the first prize went to Almendros in motion, by Alejandrina Hernández. The second was granted to winter dreams, by Juan Oliva González, and the third to Alma, by Francisco Javier García Lima.
Awards amount
In the macro photography modality, the first prize went to Flor in the dark, by Moisés Pérez Hernández. The second was for magical phosphorites, by Oscar Francisco del Pino, and the third for Supernovas, by José Ramón Hernández López.
The total amount of the awards amounts to 1,950 euros, distributed among the winners of the different categories.
The Almendro photography contest in Flor de Santiago del Teide is one of the most consolidated cultural initiatives of the Canary Islands. Held annually since 1997.
He was born with the aim of promoting photographic art and highlighting the landscape wealth of Santiago del Teide and promoting its conservation.
In this area of the island, the flowering of Almendros attracts numerous visitors who travel the paths of the municipality.
