Santa Cruz de Tenerife 11 Apr. (Press Europa) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife has reopened access this Friday to the foot of the paths leading to Teide National Park for individuals with a federated mountain card and authorised professionals, as well as tourism companies, who must fulfil certain prerequisites.

Thus, individuals with a valid federative mountain card are required to possess essential winter gear, including technical clothing, crampons, and a piolet. Additionally, they must register on the Tenerife On application and request the necessary permission, as indicated by the Corporation in a statement.

Access is also permitted for companies and individuals engaged in hiking, mountaineering, and trekking activities, registered with the Tourism Registry of the Canary Islands Government, to accompany and guide groups of no more than 15 people per guide.

Consequently, guides must possess accreditation to operate in the Teide National Park and hold the necessary qualifications for this professional undertaking.

All participants in the activity (both guides and visitors) are required to have basic winter gear, including technical clothing, crampons, and a piolet. They must also register on the Tenerife On application.

Control of Access to Teide Pico

The Cabildo implemented an online reservation system in January 2025 via the Tenerife On (App or Web) for access to Teide – Pico Viejo – Mirador of the Noses of the Teide and PNT 32 Abeque, Path PNT 23 The Black Regattons, and PNT 28 Chafarí.

Moreover, to access Path No. 10 Telesforo Bravo, which connects Rambleta with the Teide Summit, a permit must be obtained through the National Parks Reserve Central: www.revasparquesnacional.es

The Cabildo de Tenerife has reiterated that these paths are of a high level of difficulty, meaning they are not suitable for individuals lacking experience in high-altitude conditions or those with heart, respiratory, or mobility issues.

Therefore, they stress that access is prohibited without long trousers (post or backpack) and a polar coat. The use of specialised mountain footwear is mandatory, along with carrying water or hydrating fluids, a mobile phone, a flashlight or headlamp with batteries (especially if the activity takes place in the afternoon or early morning).

Additionally, during the winter season, it is also obligatory to wear gloves and a hat.
