Metrotenerife, the public transport company of the Cabildo de Tenerife, has programmed the tram service in accordance with the new sanitary measures established by the Government of the Canary Islands for the islands at level 3, with which Line 1 will end the service at 02.00 hours On New Year’s Eve and during the day, frequencies of 6 and 10 minutes will be offered.

Likewise, and as happens every year, starting at 11:00 p.m. this Friday, the Guimerá Theater stop will be the final stop of the service in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, so the Fundación and Intercambiador stations will not be operational from that time. .

Enrique Arriaga, Insular Minister of Mobility and President of Metrotenerife, points out in a note that due to the sanitary measures decreed by the regional Executive for the islands at level 3 due to the high incidence of the coronavirus, the tram services have had to be adapted with this reduction until 02.00 hours.

At that time, the last trams will leave from the Guimerá Theater stops, in Santa Cruz, and Trinidad, in La Laguna, to cover the final routes of this day.

During Friday 31st, Line 1 will be providing service every 6 minutes until 3:00 p.m. and from noon with step intervals of 7.5 and 10 minutes, depending on the time slot.

From 9:00 p.m. onwards, Line 1 will maintain frequencies of 15 and 20 minutes and will end its service at 02:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 1.

The insular director of Mobility, José Alberto León, also reports that from 11:00 pm the Guimerá Theater will be the final stop on Line 1.

Therefore, from that time until 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 1, service will be provided on the section that runs between the La Trinidad and Teatro Guimerá stops.

He also added that the trams on Line 2 will have 12 and 20 minute passing intervals in the central hours of New Year’s Eve, and then end their service at midnight as usual.

The tram network will be operational again from 08.00 hours on New Year’s Day with the frequencies corresponding to public holidays.

The company emphasizes that the use of the mask continues to be mandatory in public transport due to the epidemiological situation due to coronavirus.
