Santa Cruz de Tenerife 9 Apr. (Press Europa) –

The event “Professions for Yourself,” which in 2024 united over fifty companies and six hundred students from various educational institutions across Tenerife, dedicates its third edition to the industrial sector today, under the theme ‘promoting future’, at Cifp Virgen de Candelaria.

Consequently, tomorrow’s open day is set to welcome around five hundred students from different institutions, featuring activities centred on experiential learning, career guidance, workshops, and a showcase and tour of ESANDS for professional families.

Today’s exhibition gathered various companies and organisations, with notable attendance from the president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, and the Minister of Education Poli Suárez, as reported by the Regional Department in a release.

After the inauguration, discussions focused on the business sector’s role in implementing Dual Vocational Training (FP). The General Director of Vocational Training and Special Regime Teaching, Carolina León, emphasised the necessity of aligning the labour market with new educational offerings and the needs of the sector.

Representatives from HUEN Rental (Loxamhume), Romero Lithography, Tenerife Shipyards, Interurban Transportes of Tenerife, SA (Titsa), and Wooptix contributed to the presentation on best practices in Dual Vocational Training: companies and organisations.

Meanwhile, the minister engaged in discussions about

The Minister of Education reaffirmed her commitment to the new model designed for vocational training (FP) in the Canary Islands, which, in her view, is “tailored to the actual needs of the population and the productive fabric.” She argued that this form of professional education “should become one of the critical drivers for economic and social advancement in the Canary Islands.”

She highlighted the new vocational training offerings across the Canary Islands, which include the establishment of 151 new groups and the creation of two virtual courses that will enable students to pursue their studies remotely while attending only the evaluation tests at a centre situated in their island of residence. This initiative complements the existing programs and courses already being delivered.

Suárez underscored the importance of collaborative efforts across various sectors, such as continuing to advance the dual model, enhance infrastructure, integrate innovation, bolster training in emerging fields, and strengthen partnerships with businesses.

She emphasised that collaboration with the private sector must be one of the fundamental pillars in the execution and growth of the new vocational training in the Canary Islands.
