Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 9 Apr. (Press Europa) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife has put in place a special access system for the Anaga Rural Park that will commence this Friday and continue throughout Holy Week. This initiative includes enhanced security and authorisation for Line 948 of Titsa, which connects Azanos with Benijo at no charge.
This information was shared by the president, Rosa Dávila, following a meeting with the Government Subdelegation and representatives from the municipalities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and La Laguna, aimed at remedying the “serious traffic issue” within the Rural Park.
In this context, she mentioned that there will be a “constant presence” of the Local Police, Canarian Police, and Civil Guard at the “critical points” of the park, notably at Cruz del Carmen, the beaches, and the peak of the English, ensuring penalties for those who do not park in designated areas.
Consequently, she indicated that all signage will be immediately bolstered in areas with “pools” to inform drivers about “greater and improved access and the ability to turn around with their vehicles.”
Regarding the bus services, she noted that regular routes in Anaga and other locations on the island, such as the Teide or Teno National Park, will also be enhanced to encourage the use of public transport during peak visiting days to these sites.
Dávila took the opportunity during her press conference to highlight initiatives being developed “in the medium term” within the park, including the construction of deterrent parking in Almáciga and at the quarries. This will serve as a preliminary step towards establishing a walking system, regulating the size of vehicles allowed and marking parking zones on the roads to improve mobility.
Nevertheless, she clarified that the “final measure” would be to restrict access to private and rental vehicles, allowing entry only by Guagua, as Anaga has a specific visitor capacity.
