Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 7 April. (Press Europa) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife, in collaboration with the City of Buenavista del Norte, have agreed to manage traffic on the Teno de Teno road (TF-445) starting this Thursday, in light of the upcoming enhancements to access and the organisation of parking facilities at the site, along with the vehicle rotation area and the pedestrian pathway.
Consequently, access to the area will solely be permitted through public transport operated by Titsa (Line 369) while the works are underway.
The refurbishment of the FARO de Teno, overseen by the Ministry of Natural Environment, Sustainability, Security and Emergencies and Tourism, has a timeframe of 10 months, involving an investment of €1,646,651.60, funded by the recovery, transformation, and resilience plan supported by the European Union-Next Generation EU.
Blanca Pérez, the Minister of Natural Environment, Sustainability, Security and Emergencies, stated that during the construction phase, access will be provided exclusively via public transport to ensure safety while the works proceed.
“We recognise that this might cause some inconvenience, but it is essential to regulate traffic in order to carry out the works and restore an iconic location like the lighthouse of Teno,” she remarked.
Titsa Services
Access to Teno Punta via the TF-445 road is controlled to enhance visitors’ experience and protect the environment.
Titsa line 369 operates a route from the Guaguas station in Buenavista del Norte to Punta de Teno.
The journey lasts approximately 20 minutes and is offered at a special rate of €1 per person per trip, which can be settled in cash, by card, or using the ten+ purse.
From 1 October to 30 June, access via the Guaguas Transportation Service is available daily from 10:00 to 19:00.
From 1 July to 30 September, access can be made via the Guaguas Transportation Service daily from 09:00 to 20:00.
Improvements
The renovation of the historic lighthouse is supported by a partnership agreement between the City of Buenavista del Norte, the current concessionaire of the Port Authority, and the Cabildo de Tenerife, facilitating collaborative work across the natural environment, sustainability, security, emergencies, and tourism sectors.
The Faro de Teno will be outfitted with essential services designed to showcase the cultural and social significance of the Rural Park of Teno.
Plans include the installation of water and electricity services throughout the building and adapting the premises to accommodate a café or restaurant according to the requirements, in addition to restrooms beside a storage area.
Concurrently, parking facilities for authorised vehicles will be organised, a turning area constructed, and access will be renewed to improve public transport options and safety for locals and visitors alike.
The renovation will be executed alongside enhancements to beautify the natural surroundings and to minimise the works’ environmental impact.
