The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council public services department has announced that from Monday, 14th April to Friday, 18th April, works will take place between 08:00 and 17:00 for the demolition of the concrete surface on La Mutine street to replace it with asphalt. This initiative is part of the maintenance, conservation, and enhancement contract for the municipality’s public roads and spaces.

The Mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez, stated, “These works are a testament to our commitment to maintaining and improving the quality of our city’s infrastructure, ensuring the safety and comfort of our residents. We understand that every project can cause temporary inconveniences, but these works are crucial for the longevity of our roads.”

Carlos Tarife, the Councillor for Public Services, explained that “this essential action is being undertaken due to the significant deterioration of the concrete surface. The entire affected section will undergo milling before the application of a new asphalt layer. We will utilise 128 tons of asphalt, resulting in a safer and more comfortable route for everyone.”

The Councillor for the Health-La Salle district emphasised the significance of these works and expressed confidence that “the benefits of this initiative will be soon noticeable, resulting in a safer and more functional street for all residents.”

Traffic restrictions and diversions

It is important to note that during the course of the works, traffic on La Mutine street will be temporarily halted, and a provisional diversion will be implemented on Heliodoro Rodríguez López street. Furthermore, from Monday, 14th April at 07:00, parking will be prohibited in the affected area. The traffic diversion will be temporary and adequately signposted to facilitate circulation.

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council appreciates the cooperation and understanding of residents and drivers while these works are in progress.
