Santa Cruz de Tenerife 5 Apr. (Press Europa) –
The airline Easyjet has inaugurated a new route linking Tenerife and Milan this Saturday. This route connects the airport of Milan Linate with Tenerife Sur. The service will operate every Saturday throughout the summer season, during which it will provide over 8,000 seats.
Easyjet ranked as the third most significant airline for Tenerife in 2024, bringing in approximately 850,000 passengers from international airports, as noted by the Tenerife council in a statement.
Lope Afonso, the vice president and tourism advisor for the Cabildo de Tenerife, emphasised how these new air routes greatly enhance the island’s connectivity.
“These new direct connections present opportunities in the tourism, cultural, and economic sectors. We value this commitment to improving Tenerife’s connectivity and reaffirm our support for initiatives that strengthen our national and international presence,” he remarked.
According to Dimple Melwani, the CEO of Tourism of Tenerife, this new route bolsters their connectivity strategy, which aims to establish direct routes that link Tenerife with key origin markets.

“This route will connect yet another Milan airport, namely Linate,” he stated. Melwani highlighted that “Italy accounts for 5.7% of the total number of tourists arriving in Tenerife, based on Frontur data for the end of 2024, thereby ranking as the island’s third largest international market.”
Javier Gándara, the general director of Easyjet in Southern Europe, noted that with the recent establishment of a base at Milan Linate, the airline is solidifying its presence in Italy and expanding connectivity to more destinations in Europe.
“With this new route, Tenerife gains a direct link to one of Italy’s principal economic and cultural hubs, offering the islanders a strategic and efficient connection to Milan. This initiative reinforces Tenerife’s role as a vital destination within our network, catering to business travellers as well as holidaymakers of all kinds,” he commented.
This route represents the first direct link between Linate airport and Tenerife. Furthermore, the island is connected from the other airports in Milan and nearby cities, such as Malpensa – also operated by Easyjet – and Bergamo. Consequently, the total number of seats available to Tenerife in 2025 will reach 125,146.
The launch of this route is expected to influence passenger arrivals from various Italian airports to the island, which welcomed nearly 440,000 visitors in 2024, reflecting a steadily positive trend in recent years.
