Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 1 Apr. (Press Europa) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife is contributing to the upkeep of the island’s livestock sector by announcing a subsidy programme totalling €2.2 million, aimed at covering the feeding costs for sheep, goats, cattle, pigs, rabbits, and poultry on livestock farms.
The primary sector councillor, Valentín González, indicated in a statement that “the guidelines and announcement for this funding initiative will be endorsed tomorrow during the Governing Council” and emphasised that “this initiative aims to ease the challenging economic conditions currently faced by the livestock sector on the island, driven by soaring production expenses.”
González stated that the objective of this subsidy scheme is to “enhance the competitiveness of local producers against imported animal products.”
The announcement’s guidelines specify that both natural and legal entities that own livestock farms in Tenerife with sheep, goats, cattle, pigs, rabbits, and poultry may be eligible for these grants, on the condition that their livestock holdings exceed one unit of larger animals for each species.
Applications can be submitted once the announcement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province, via the Electronic Headquarters of the Cabildo, https://sede.tenerife.es, or through agricultural extension services.
