The Cabildo will relocate the sculpture of Anchieta in January for works

Finally, the Cabildo will be the Administration in charge of moving the sculpture dedicated to Father Anchieta, currently located in the roundabout of the same name located at the entrance of La Laguna, to the garden of the central campus of the University of La Laguna (ULL), in the duration of the works on the pedestrian walkway project in said roundabout.

This was confirmed by the first vice president of the Cabildo and counselor of Roads, Enrique Arriaga, who pointed out that the forecast is that the transfer will be “at the beginning of January, but it depends on the preparations.”

Arriaga indicated that the transfer of the sculpture “is within the budget of the work” for the catwalk and pointed out that “there is already an agreement” to place it in the garden of the central campus of the ULL. “The foundation is going to be prepared where” the sculpture is going to be placed “and then, we have to make the transfer very carefully because we do not know its state, and we have to make a kind of cage to pack it well and be able to move it safely” explained about it.

Regarding the project of the pedestrian walkway in said roundabout, the insular councilor stated that the works have already begun, “but not there physically, but that work is being done in the workshops with the construction of the pieces and work will begin shortly “In the area,” but simply with the foundation of the supports. It is not a work that is going to be seen there in the first term, but it will be seen when the pieces are more or less built ”.

In this regard, Arriaga pointed out that “the work has to be finished by the end of 2022, so we imagine that around summer one begins to see physical movement there (in the roundabout).” In addition, he added that “we are also pending completion of the La Esperanza highway tunnel, because it affects one of the pillars, and that work ends in June.”

The Cabildo announced, at the beginning of October, the award to the company Obras Huarte Lain SA of the works for the construction of the pedestrian walkway at the Padre de Anchieta junction, which have a budget of almost 8.8 million. These works will contribute to decongesting one of the busiest points in the area of the TF-5.
