The Government of the Canary Islands, via the General Emergency Department, has announced a pre-alert status for rainfall in La Palma, El Hierro, La Gomera, Tenerife, and Gran Canaria, effective this Sunday from 11:30 am.
This action has been taken based on data provided by the State Meteorology Agency along with other accessible sources, and in accordance with the specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands in response to risks posed by adverse weather conditions (PEFMA).
In Tenerife, the affected municipalities include La Guancha, San Juan de la Rambla, Los Realejos, Puerto de la Cruz, Santa Úrsula, La Victoria, La Matanza, El Sauzal, Tacoronte, Tegueste, and San Cristóbal de la Laguna. In Gran Canaria, the measure will impact Gáldar, Agaete, Artenara, La Aldea, Tejeda, Mogán, and San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
Forecasts predict that significant localised precipitation is likely, occurring as showers with intensities equal to or exceeding 15 mm within an hour.
The Regional Department has advised the public to adhere to the self-protection recommendations issued by the General Emergency Directorate.
