Mystery of Dog Head Found at Tegueste Home: City Council Seeks Answers

The City Council of Tegueste, located in Tenerife, has urged anyone with information that could aid in the investigation of “the heinous act of violence perpetrated against a defenceless animal” to come forward, following the discovery of a decapitated dog’s head near a residence.

Tegueste’s animal welfare department expressed “its utmost and unequivocal condemnation” in a statement released on Thursday and reminded the public that the municipality provides resources to handle complaints and safeguard animals.

“We will not allow such acts to go unpunished,” stated the Councilor for Animal Welfare, Julián Rodríguez, who reaffirmed his disgust “at the horrific act of violence inflicted upon the dog known as Boli.”

The incident, which took place on the main road of Punta del Hidalgo, “has profoundly shocked us both as an institution and as a community,” continued the councilor, who denounced “this atrocity” and reiterated his commitment to ensuring the protection and welfare of all animals.

“We cannot permit any form of animal cruelty within our municipality or beyond,” the councilor emphasised, extending the solidarity of the City Council to the affected family and urging citizens to report any instances of abuse or mistreatment towards animals.

He also highlighted that the animal welfare department “will persist in its efforts to ensure that unfortunate incidents like this do not recur” and to foster a community based on respect, empathy, and the protection of the most vulnerable beings.
