Santa Cruz de Tenerife 27 Mar. (Europa Press) –

The head of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, is set to meet on 2 April at the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) in Madrid to introduce the initiative for the installation of intelligent traffic signals at the entry points of the North Highway (TF-5), as she revealed this Thursday during an interview with Radio Club Ser Tenerife.

In the discussion, Dávila noted that with an investment of 4 million euros in the initial phase, the Cabildo aims to enhance the most critical access points through this project, thereby improving vehicle flow and minimising waiting periods.

Specifically, the system will adapt to real-time traffic conditions, managing intersections leading to Tacoronte based on the volume of vehicles, to prevent congestion on major roads and facilitate smoother transportation, as stated by the island’s president.

“If everything proceeds as planned, (…) we would be able to put it out for tender within this year, utilising these 4 million euros for the initial phase targeting Tacoronte, and it could be operational by 2026,” she clarified.
