Santa Cruz de Tenerife 26 Mar. (Europa Press) –

The Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is seeking a two-year prison sentence for a woman who reportedly harassed, insulted, and demeaned a Colombian man in a public square for approximately fifteen minutes.

The indictment, as reported by Europa Press, indicates that the incident occurred without any provocation from the victim, who was belittled due to his skin colour and immigrant status.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the woman uttered remarks such as: “Bloody black, filthy immigrant, go back to your wretched country, disgusting black, you are nothing, you are rubbish”, “In Spain, it takes a Berlusconi to eliminate all the worthless blacks and immigrants”, “All immigrants are the same and live off us, I will hit you,” “You will be imprisoned because I am a woman and have more rights,” “This is not your country, immigrant.”

The man consistently attempted to deescalate the situation and even left the area, but the woman followed him down a main street in the capital of Tenerife, where she continued to shout insults and disrespect him.

Consequently, feeling “humiliated and ashamed,” he reported the incident to the police, who arrived on the scene and arrested the woman.

The woman has a history of prior convictions, including a three-month prison sentence for theft with force, as well as a one-year sentence and 22 days of community service for two counts of injury or domestic violence.

Furthermore, the Court of Instruction has issued an order prohibiting her from approaching or contacting the victim during the judicial proceedings.

The Prosecutor’s Office believes the actions constitute a crime against the victim’s dignity for discriminatory reasons and another charge against moral integrity. They are also seeking a fine of 1,620 euros, a four-year disqualification from working in the education sector, and compensation of 1,000 euros to the victim for moral damages.

The trial is scheduled for next Monday at 09:30 in the sixth section of the Provincial Court.
