Granadilla de Abona is set for a significant political event with the vote taking place at 12:00 hours on the motion of no confidence put forward by the PP, CC, and Vox. A substantial police presence has been established around the Town Hall due to the high anticipation surrounding the event.

Moreover, a large screen has been erected to enable attendees to follow the plenary session’s proceedings live. Many local residents have also gathered outside.

The atmosphere inside and outside the plenary is expected to be charged with tension. José Domingo Regalado is in line to be elected as the new mayor of Granadilla, aiming to reclaim the position he held from 2016 to 2023.

The political rift within the Town Hall has never been more pronounced, particularly between María Bianca Cervantes, the mayor from the Popular Party, and Marcos Antonio Rodríguez Santana. While they have previously shared the chamber, it seems unlikely they will do so today. Rodríguez has chosen to back the motion of no confidence, whereas Cervantes has distanced herself from the proposal, creating uncertainty and increasing anticipation regarding the vote’s outcome.

Several prominent members of the Socialist Party have arrived at the Granadillero Town Hall, including former president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, and the new insular secretary, Tamara Raya, who have offered their support to the possibly outgoing mayor, Jennifer Miranda.
