Santa Cruz de Tenerife 26 Mar. (Europa Press) –
The Deputy Prime Minister of the Canary Islands and leader of the popular party in the archipelago, Manuel Domínguez, stated this Wednesday that he is “disciplined” and respects the “structure” of his party, hence he will not request the freedom to vote for the six Canarian deputies in Congress when the validation of the migrant minors decree-law comes to the vote.
“I speak with complete honesty; I will not deceive, I won’t do that, I won’t even solicit it, I do not believe it is suitable,” he expressed in an interview with ‘Radio Club Tenerife’, as reported by Europa Press, where he acknowledged that he will not turn the Canary PP into the “Pancho Villa Army.”
He remarked that the Canarian deputies should adhere to “the same” principles as him, which is to respect the voting directive of their group, citing that in the Parliament of the Canary Islands he would not permit the discussion of a volcanoes law if the deputies from La Palma did not vote in unison with their colleagues.
Domínguez asserted that he is “proud” of providing “stability” to the Canary Islands government amid this debate, enabling President Fernando Clavijo to engage in negotiations with Juns, the PNV, and to undertake various visits to African nations.
In response to criticisms from his party at the national level regarding the decree-law, he commented that everyone “has prepared their own grill for their sardine,” just like the Canarian PP, without indulging in the “fury and internal discord,” which is precisely what the central government aimed to incite, attempting to undermine the Canary Islands pact.
