The Cabildo de Tenerife has launched a new support service to undertake with which it has assisted 180 unemployed people who have considered self-employment as an alternative to labor insertion. The Councilor for Employment, Socio-economic Development and Foreign Action of the Cabildo, Carmen Luz Baso, has also reported that this year 880 people have been assisted through the specialized service of information and advice on employment for migrants residing on the island of Tenerife.

Both lines of support are part of the Barrios por el Empleo program, a project promoted by the Cabildo, through the Insular Foundation for Training, Employment and Business Development (Fifede), which has the participation of Cáritas Diocesana, Spanish Red Cross, the General Foundation of the University of La Laguna, Don Bosco Salesianos Social and Sinpromi. This program is co-financed by the Canary Islands Development Fund (Fdcan), within the Insular Development Strategic Framework (Medi).

Camen Luz Baso, points out that the entrepreneurship support service is a “new initiative designed to specifically respond to the demand for information and advice that we received in our care centers.” Through it, assistance is provided to all those who consider self-employment as a professional alternative, especially in the process for planning, developing and executing their business idea.
