Man Arrested for Sexual Assault Against Tourist in Southern Tenerife

Officers from the National Police have apprehended an individual implicated in the sexual assault of a Belgian tourist in Costa Adeje last February.

The victim, a 47-year-old woman, sought assistance from a local establishment, reporting that she had been sexually assaulted in an unlit street in Tenerife, as outlined by the National Police.

Upon receiving the report, the officers secured the crime scene, collecting biological evidence that could prove crucial for the investigation, while the victim was transported by ambulance to the hospital for necessary medical examinations.

Investigations facilitated a reconstruction of the events, revealing that the victim had met three men around 1:00 am in a southern Tenerife restaurant.

Approximately half an hour later, she consented to ride a motorcycle with one of them, who took her to a dimly lit and dead-end street, where, according to her account, he assaulted her violently.

Following the assault, the perpetrator departed on his motorcycle, leaving behind crucial evidence at the scene.

After weeks of diligent work, the officers successfully identified the suspect based on investigative leads and the victim’s description, particularly noting a vividly coloured tattoo on his hand.

Consequently, in early March, the alleged assailant, a 21-year-old man with no prior criminal record, was located, arrested, and presented to the relevant judicial authority.
