The Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has hoisted the yellow caution flag at Las Teresitas beach following the identification of numerous specimens of the Portuguese man o’ war, whose sting is reportedly more excruciating than that of typical jellyfish.
In conjunction with the yellow flag, additional marine fauna warnings have been established to alert beachgoers of this threat.
Members of the Red Cross will conduct inspections from a boat to ascertain the potential presence of more specimens in the swimming area.
