Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 24 Mar. (Europa Press) –
Agents from the National Police have apprehended a wanted fugitive sought by Swiss authorities for drug trafficking in Tenerife. He faces a potential prison sentence of up to 15 years after being involved in the importation of up to 50 kilograms of cocaine intended for distribution in the Swiss canton of Tesino.
During the operation to detain him, as detailed by the National Police in a press statement, one of the officers was injured. However, the fugitive was ultimately captured while attempting to escape across the roofs of a property in the municipality of Adeje.
The investigation commenced when agents received information indicating that a fugitive, sought by Swiss authorities for drug-related offences, might be residing in the Canary Islands. He was believed to be using counterfeit documentation and maintaining a lavish lifestyle, while boasting about his violent tendencies on social media.
Consequently, the investigations conducted by the agents successfully led to the fugitive’s identification in Adeje, Tenerife. After multiple surveillance operations, they managed to pinpoint his location in the holiday home where he was staying.
In preparation for his arrest, the agents set up a trap. The fugitive initially attempted to escape by vehicle, during which he injured one of the officers. He then tried to flee on foot across the roofs of several houses, but was ultimately apprehended.
He is now facing a 15-year prison sentence in Switzerland as the alleged perpetrator of a drug trafficking offence, linked to a criminal organisation that imported 50 kilos of cocaine intended for distribution in the Swiss canton of Tesino.
