Seven officers from the Local Police of Santa Cruz, primarily part of the drone unit, are participating in a specialised course on the operation of these devices in relation to the duties of security forces. This training initiative, spearheaded by the Local Capital Security Academy, will cover various aspects of specific regulations; conducting traffic controls; managing crowds; and carrying out environmental interventions and searches for missing persons.
The Security Councillor, Gladis de León, emphasised “the momentum we aim to maintain with this new tool, both through specialised training and by enhancing its technical resources, as well as acquiring additional drones,” she commented.
The course will focus on the utilisation of drones in preventive traffic controls, encompassing the identification of violations from an aerial viewpoint and vehicle monitoring, as well as searching for individuals following an accident, utilising thermal imaging cameras.
