The stage of the Plaza de la Iglesia hosted the reading of the proclamation with which the Festivities in honor of the Virgin of La Esperanza de La Guancha officially started, that will run until next Monday. Following a strict security protocol due to the sanitary restrictions of the covid-19 pandemic, different parties began that was proclaimed in this edition by Florentina Pérez, daughter of the municipality and one of the references in the cultural field with more than 50 years of recognized trajectory as painter. In her simple, emotional and close speech on Thursday night, the person in charge of announcing the festivities remembered the patron saint and shared with the present memories of the festivities of yesteryear: the traditional enrame of the town, the smell in its streets, the importance that craftsmanship has always had … The event was attended by the mayor of La Guancha, Antonio Hernández. After the institutional act, José Manuel Ramos and Benito Cabrera offered the public the Étnico musical recital.
Today, from 9:30 p.m., the local group Abruncos will return to the stage in the framework of the patron saint festivities de La Guancha to celebrate the 16th edition of the festival that bears his name. The event will allow the public to enjoy a varied musical proposal in which the group led by Jacob González will include more than a dozen of their own songs, some of which will be premiered during the night.
In the show, Abruncos will share the stage with the palmeros Troveros de Asieta, offering the joint interpretation of several of the songs. In addition, as usual, on Sunday, starting at 12:00 in the parish of El Dulce Nombre de Jesús, Abruncos will once again be the protagonist with the musical accompaniment of the religious celebration in honor of the Virgin of La Esperanza, where he will perform its traditional Canarian mass.
