Strong Winds Disrupt Flight Operations at Tenerife Sur Airport

The occurrence of crosswinds at Tenerife Sur Airport has led to the diversion of three flights this Sunday, as reported by Aena Fuentes to Efe.

In particular, flights from Helsinki, Liverpool, and London-Gatwick have been redirected to Gran Canaria Airport.

Crosswinds can impact landing procedures significantly, which is why the diversion of these flights occurred.

The Canary Islands are currently under a Prealert for strong winds due to Borrasca Martinho, and specifically, Tenerife has an active yellow warning in the southern region of the island for gusts reaching up to 70 km/h.
