Santa Cruz de Tenerife 20 Mar. (Europa Press) –

The Secretary of the PSOE in Puerto de la Cruz, Zebenzuí González, has lodged a complaint with the National Police regarding an alleged incident involving intimidation and harassment by the first deputy mayor and councillor of the Portuense Citizen Assembly (ACP).

The Socialists clarify in a statement that the incident transpired on San Felipe Street, close to the Plaza del Charco, when González was in the company of his wife and two witnesses. Hernández, acting on his own accord, confronted him with insults and threats.

The PSOE in Puerto de la Cruz expresses its “full support” for the Secretary of Organisation and denounces the incident, reiterating that such behaviour “becomes yet another political weapon.”

“All boundaries are crossed when, in public, one is insulted, threatened, and belittled in such a manner, particularly when abusing the position of a governmental councillor, especially if that verbal and threatening aggression originates from a public official,” they remarked.

Furthermore, the PSOE in Puerto de la Cruz appreciates the intervention of the two eyewitnesses who assisted the Secretary of Organisation and his wife “to ensure that the verbal aggression did not escalate and did not turn physical, seeking refuge in a commercial establishment nearby.”

The PSOE reaffirms its dedication to combat all forms of violence or intimidation, whether physical or verbal, directed against anyone, irrespective of their political beliefs, in order to uphold Article 16 of the Constitution.

Consequently, they share with their members and supporters “the condemnation of any form of physical and verbal provocation that may arise from this councillor in the future, which, should the complaint move forward in the Court of Instruction, could result in a conviction for a minor offence or, given the repercussions on the health of González and his wife, possible preceding investigative proceedings.”
