Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 18 Mar. (Europa Press) –

The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, has called a meeting for Wednesday at 11.00 of the ‘Canary Pact for Immigration’ to discuss the reform agreement of the Foreigners Law, which mandates the distribution of unaccompanied migrant minors across the various autonomous communities.

Joining Clavijo will be the Vice President of the Canary Islands Government, Manuel Domínguez, the Minister of Social Welfare, Candelaria Delgado, the Deputy Minister of Legal Services, Jorge Riestra, and representatives from the parliamentary groups present in the Parliament of the Canary Islands – CC, PP, PSOE, Vox, ASG, AHI and NC-BC.

The agreement stipulates that criteria will be established based on factors such as population (50%), per capita income (13%), unemployment rate (15%), effort (6%), structural dimensions of the seat system (10%), border city status (2%), insularity (2%), and dispersion (2%).

Consequently, the reception capacity for each Autonomous Community will be determined by dividing the total population of that community as of December 31 of the previous year by the quotient derived from dividing Spain’s total population by the maximum number of unaccompanied minors that the Spanish protection system can accommodate.
