Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 18 Mar. (Europa Press) –

The president of the Canary Islands Government, Fernando Clavijo, emphasised on Tuesday that the decree law amending the Foreigner Law and mandating the distribution of unaccompanied migrants is a “victory” for Canarian society, which has taken a “significant step forward” to “combat” a “trial of endurance” over the past eighteen months.

In a press briefing, he also called for “institutional loyalty” from autonomous communities governed by the PP, who have been expressly asked not to “impede or obstruct” the implementation of the agreement.

Clavijo believes that there is no “room for manoeuvre” to file challenges, although he respects that other communities may choose to do so, and he has denounced the “mediocrity and pettiness of some” who oppose the agreement – specifically citing Valencia, where Vox is acting against the approval of the autonomous budgets.
