Exciting Weekend Adventures Await You in Tenerife!

Tenerife continues to be bustling with weekend activities, showcasing a public and private dedication to offering leisure on the island. From film events to sports and carnival performances, if you were contemplating a quiet weekend at home, it’s time to rummage through your wardrobe because you won’t want to miss these engaging activities.

Carnival

The Carnival may have ended in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, yet it persists in various towns across the island. This weekend, La Laguna will host an array of events, including a performance by the Puerto Rican artist Tonny Tun Tun.

La Laguna

On Saturday, at 10:30 a.m., there will be a parade featuring all the children’s groups of the Carnival of La Laguna. Additionally, the Plaza del Cristo will transform into a vibrant circus, complete with fun activities for the whole family. In the afternoon, at 6:00 p.m., there will be a Meeting of Rondallas held at the Leal Theatre. From 7:00 p.m. onwards, the Wine Night Carnival in the Plaza del Cristo will showcase performances by two renowned Cuban music groups: Son Key and Asieta’s Stubborn.

On Sunday, the adult carnival’s comparsas and murgas will perform from 11:00 a.m., embarking on a route between the squares of La Concepción and El Cristo. At 4:00 p.m., the Great Masked Ball will take place, featuring acts from Arodi, Andrea Rodríguez, Lucrecia, Pepe Benavente, and Tony Tun Tun, with festivities continuing until 8:00 p.m.

Candelaria

Candelaria will also celebrate its carnestolendas this weekend. Saturday will feature the XIX Regional Meeting of Murgas, a much-anticipated event for enthusiasts of this genre, starting at 9:00 p.m. in the Plaza de la Patrona de Canarias. This day will also include the Coso and accompanying dance, enlivened by various orchestras.

Sunday will focus on the children, with participation from the local children’s centres, in addition to a day full of carnival-themed fun.

Isora Guide

Meanwhile, Isora Guide will celebrate its Carnival at San Juan Beach on Saturday, featuring musical groups and acts. From 11:00 p.m. onwards, the grand verbenazo will commence.

Sunday will be dedicated to the parade, which will commence from the CEIO Adoration Rodríguez Alonso, culminating with performances by various musical and carnival groups.

Tacoronte

Tacoronte’s Carnival this weekend will highlight the small piñata. On Saturday, the event will kick off with the inaugural edition of the Chikirun of Color along the North General Highway, followed by the First Children’s Murgas Encounter and the prestigious contest Miss Mosto 2025 starting at 10:00 p.m. The evening will conclude with a popular verbena.

On Sunday, the Apotheosis Coso will take place, beginning from Cantillo and concluding in the vicinity of the Capitol Auditorium of the municipality. A gathering of classic and vintage cars will also occur at the Plaza del Cristo, with the Wamampi orchestra and the famed DJ Renzzo the Selector closing the penultimate day of the Carnival festivities.

Buenavista del Norte

This Saturday, Buenavista will host the burial of La Sardina in San Sebastián Square, commencing at 7:30 p.m. Following this, the celebrations will continue with a verbena featuring Guaracha and Teymar orchestras.

On Sunday, the Carnival Coso will begin at 5:00 p.m. along Juan Méndez El Viejo Avenue.

Santiago del Teide

This Saturday, the giants will select their children’s queen, with six candidates participating in the event scheduled for 5:00 p.m. in Buganvilla Square. The grand apotheosis will follow on Sunday.

Granadilla de Abona

The Great Apotheosis Coso for the Carnival of Granadilla de Abona will celebrate its main event this Saturday, starting at 5:30 p.m. and traversing key locations in the town, featuring comparsas, murgas, and various groups from across the island.

On Sunday, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in San Isidro Culture Square, there will be parades featuring the southern Kuliquitacas, Guajeiros, and A Abort. Subsequently, the Murgas meeting will occur, showcasing twisting, mamelucos, guachinquiestas, and crazy devils.

Puerto de la Cruz

The tourist destination of Puerto de la Cruz will organise a Carnival Coso this Saturday, starting at 4:00 p.m., which had been rescheduled due to adverse weather. Musical performances by orchestras and DJ will commence at 7:30 p.m., with beach bars providing music from 4:00 p.m.

The festive ambience will begin on Piñata Sunday at 12:00 p.m., with music continuing, including a DJ and various artists half an hour later.

Music

José Luis Rodríguez ‘El Puma’ is set to perform in Tenerife on Saturday at 9:00 p.m. This event will take place in the Santiago Martín Pavilion.

Renowned for his distinctive voice and magnetic charm, ‘El Puma’ stands as an iconic figure in Latin music. With over50 years of career, he has captivated generations with timeless anthems such as ‘Owner of Nothing’, ‘Hold on Hands’, and ‘Peacock’.

Craft

Arafo will host the XXVII Edition of the Craft Regional Fair this weekend. The event will take place at San Juan Degollado Square and its surroundings, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The fair will feature 50 stalls, showcasing over 30 artisan and gastronomic specialties, including traditional pottery, embroidery, weaving, wickerwork, cutlery, glasswork, floral arrangements, and various percussion and wind instruments.

Cinema

Exciting Weekend Adventures Await You in Tenerife!

This weekend, Tea Tenerife Arts Space will screen Lemonov, directed by Kirill Serebrennikov, at 7:00 p.m. Based on Emmanuel Carrère’s intriguing bestseller, the film features Ben Whishaw in the role of the enigmatic, controversial, and radical Eduard Limonov, a Soviet poet who transitioned from being a drifter in New York to leading fascist guerillas in Yugoslavia, ultimately becoming an antihero in his homeland. This chronological biopic portrays his life from the early 1970s until his death in 2020 and will be presented in the original English version with Spanish subtitles.

Sport

The Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium will host an engaging match this Saturday at 4:00 p.m., where players from UD Tenerife and FC Barcelona will compete in the First Women’s Football Division.
