Puerto de la Cruz, the birthplace of tourism in Tenerife, has announced the commencement of works aimed at eliminating the sewage discharges that have led to the closure of its main beach for over eight months. The mayor, Leopoldo Afonso (PP), stated on Thursday that these jobs are “essential” and “aim not only to restore access to Playa Jardín but also to develop sustainable, long-term solutions for Punta Brava and the entire coastline of the municipality.”
