The family of Isaac Trujillo, a 30-year-old resident of Lanzarote who tragically lost his life in the early hours of March 4 due to injuries sustained during a altercation at the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is seeking assistance and witnesses to help identify the perpetrators.
“Tenerife, we require your support in locating witnesses who can assist in identifying those who took our child’s life,” states a message circulated via social media.
In this context, the family asserts that Isaac was “savagely assaulted by a group of individuals who ended his life,” and only two of those involved have been recognised, with “many more culpable” yet to be identified.
“We are seeking justice and earnestly appeal for anyone who can provide testimony or recordings that may help clarify the circumstances. If you witnessed anything, recorded something, or can offer any detail, please do so anonymously and with complete confidentiality,” explains the family, who also shares the contact email [email protected].
The family emphasises that their only aim is to “discover the truth” and believes that public cooperation is “essential” in bringing those responsible for Isaac’s death to justice.
“Do not let the carnival turn a blind eye to violence. Violence impacts us all,” concludes the statement.
At present, two young women have been detained in connection with the incident, which took place on Maritime Avenue in the capital, including the alleged assailant, a 19-year-old student from Gran Canaria who is being investigated for homicide. She managed to avoid provisional detention by posting bail of €6,000 (Isaac succumbed to cardiac arrest on the way to the hospital, suffering from severe cranial trauma).
Additionally, there is a second individual under investigation, of Maghreb descent and residing in Gran Canaria, for an alleged crime of injuries that are temporary in nature.
