Santa Cruz de Tenerife 12 Mar. (Europa Press) –
The President of the Canary Islands Government and Secretary General of the Coalition Canarian (CC), Fernando Clavijo, has contextualised the motion of no confidence submitted in the City of Granadilla by his party, Vox, and the PP, within the “independence” of the Local Committee of his organisation.
“This is not a choice I have made,” he stated in an interview with ‘Radio Club Tenerife’, as reported by Europa Press, referring to the political agreement “in cascade” made at the start of the legislative term, which does not include Vox.
He mentioned that the CC statutes allow for “independence” in local committees to establish political alliances within the “rules of the game” established by their formation. “You can agree with it or you can disagree,” he clarified.
Clavijo emphasised that “these events occur” in political parties and noted that the PSOE “has eight agreements in Spain” with Vox, yet Pedro Sánchez remains the General Secretary. “The structures of political parties function this way,” he remarked.
Nevertheless, he asserted that CC and Vox are “like water and oil” and are at “opposite ends” regarding issues like climate denialism, migration, or the self-governance of autonomous communities.
