Santa Cruz de Tenerife 12 Mar. (Europa Press) –
The Governing Council of the Cabildo de Tenerife approved a new round of subsidies on Wednesday designed for individuals focusing on the restoration of historical heritage, with an initial allocation of 800,000 euros.
These grants will facilitate financing of up to 50% of the associated costs, capped at 30,000 euros for each beneficiary. In exceptional economic cases, full coverage of 100% may be granted to applicants, according to the Tenerife council’s statement.
“This initiative is vital for the conservation of the island’s cultural heritage, enabling crucial interventions in historically significant sites, ranging from maintenance and restoration to structural reinforcement and the modernisation of water supply, sewage, and electrical infrastructure,” described President Rosa Dávila.
The island corporation noted that in 2024, this round of subsidies received an unprecedented number of applications, totalling 263, reflecting a 25% rise compared to 2023.
In light of this increasing demand, they have indicated that the allocated budget has been doubled to three million euros, marking “the largest financial commitment” in this sector to date.
The budget may be further extended to accommodate applicants listed on the reserve list, as outlined by the Cabildo.
Cabildo Occupational Risk Prevention Strategy
The Governing Council also ratified the Occupational Risk Prevention Strategy of the Tenerife Insular Cabildo for the period of 2025-2028, along with the preventive measures planned for implementation this year.
The strategy is structured around four key pillars, aimed at promoting “a secure and healthy working environment” which fosters both professional growth and personal fulfilment, while also ensuring “continuous improvement” in the delivery of public services.
The island’s vice president, Lope Afonso, also announced the approval of the tender for a “dynamic” system for procuring project drafting services and consultancy for the Ministry of Tourism, adhering to harmonised regulations.
In this context, the corporation has emphasised that it is “a strategy to establish Tenerife as a leading tourist destination, which will allow for a more agile, efficient, and modern approach to tourism projects across the island.”
In relation to the Culture Area, the Governing Council has agreed to amend the execution and justification periods for the expansion of the multipurpose Uses Federico Pérez Hernández at the Tank, which is included in the 2016-2028 Cultural Infrastructure Plan.
Approval has also been granted for financial adjustments and deadline extensions for three “key” cultural infrastructure projects, ensuring their completion and commissioning at the Auditorium of Candelaria, El Casco de La Guancha, and the Cultural Centre Tabaiba of San Juan de la Rambla.
