The leader of the Canary Islands Government, Fernando Clavijo, will engage in the second ‘debate on the state of Canary identity’ on Tuesday, during which he will present his administration and the progress, as seen by the Government, that has been made within the archipelago.
Clavijo is set to begin his address at 11.30 am, tackling critical political issues such as the migration crisis, housing accessibility, relations between the Canary Islands and the State, and the challenges of tourism and population within the archipelago.
Following a speech lasting no more than two hours, the session will be paused and will reconvene at 4 pm, allowing opposition groups, including PSOE, NC-BC, and VOX, to participate.
The spokespersons will be granted an initial 40-minute intervention, which Clavijo may respond to either separately or collectively, followed by a ten-minute rebuttal, concluding with remarks from the president.
The second day of the debate is scheduled for Wednesday, starting at 09.00, featuring interventions from the groups that support the government (CC, PP, ASG, and others), with Thursday designated as the final day for discussing resolution proposals.
The Canary government is hopeful for a “constructive debate” that will enable reflection on the first half of the legislative term and review the objectives for the forthcoming twelve months.
