Maritime rescue services have retrieved a Cayuco carrying 83 migrants, which was located 12 miles southeast of El Hierro Island, according to sources from the public organisation.
The alert was raised following a call from one of the passengers to 112 Canary Islands, leading to the mobilisation of the Salvamar Adhara and the Helimer 204 from the Santa Cruz de Tenerife base, who were responsible for the operation.
The migrants, including 17 minors and seven women, were disembarked in apparent good health at the port of La Restinga.
